During Opening Ceremonies, Ryan Spence Chair was presented with a defibrillator, for use at both the Saturday and Wednesday Markets by Jean-Guy Belzile, EMS Manager. We are pleased to have been chose to receive this generosity!

We presently have 4 vendors on Saturday who are trained on the use of the defibrillator...with one seasonal on Wednesday and one occasional vendor.

WOW...opening day was a HUGE success...It wasn't a day filled with sunshine, but it doesn't have to be, it didn't rain so in my books the weather was GREAT...it was an amazing Opening Day! We had great crowds from about 8:45 on...thank you to all who attended the Opening Ceremonies, and those who spent time at the Market yesterday! You made the day an awesome one for all our vendors!!!

We had local dignitaries on hand to say a few words at 9:00am...we thank Mayor Al MacDonald, MP Jay Aspen, MPP, Vic Fedeli, and Jeff Serran, DIA and city councilor for taking time out of their busy Saturday mornings to say a few during our Opening Ceremonies, hosted by our Market Chair, Ryan Spence, Field Good Farms / Ferme j'me champ bien...great job Ryan!

May 15th...

One more day...time has gone by so fast! The North Bay Farmers' Market begins its 13th season tomorrow.

Stop by and visit with old friends and make new ones while you are at it. Just had a call from Ron Warman of Alsace Gardens, he will have Rhubarb and limited asparagus for anyone interested! Others may have these items as well but I know for sure Ron will.  Just found out Schlosser Farm will also have asparagus tomorrow!

Buskers Bob Barraclough, Ken the Balloon Dude, facepainter Melissa Sohm, and caricature artist Dali Pecore will all be on hand for the day!

May 14th

I have two more special items to mention for this Saturday...

There will be a Kid's Seed Planting area, where children are given a small container to plant seeds, which they will take home and watch it grow! Look for that at the Museum end of the Market.

Tanya Boochoon, Booth #3 will be holding a draw for items she made...entry into the the draw is by donation. The funds collected will go a charity of her choice.

 

2 days people...the North Bay Farmers' Market opens this Saturday, May 16th, 8:30am - 1:00pm

Come early to miss the crowds or around 9:00 to see the opening ceremonies...or anytime to visit with friends and see what the vendors have been working at all winter long! Don't miss Bob Barraclough our entertainer in the center of the Market for the day. At the Transit end you will find Nick Cangiano, 8:00am to 10:45 and violinist, Olga Ryker, 11:00 to 1:00, with some of her students...all three are awesome musicians! Awesome sounds for the day!

One of our occasional vendors, Photographer, Kristin Armstrong, is having her Gallery Debut during the Downtown Gallery Hop on Friday, November 21 from 7pm – 9:30pm at 150 West on Oak. Her framed prints will be on display and for sale as well as some unframed prints and cards available for purchase. Kristin's work will stay in the gallery for the foreseeable future. 150 West is a local gallery on Oak Street West that promotes the work of Artists in Northern Ontario.

Highland Christmas Craft Show
 
Highland Christmas Craft Show, Sat. Nov. 22/14 from 9:00-3:00 at the SSJ in Sundridge, On. located 45 miles south of North Bay and 35 miles north of Huntsville. You can find Mike in Sturgeon Falls at the Christmas Market this weekend  November 15th and 16th and the Witty Artisans Elk's Lodge on December 7th.

As most will know the North Bay Farmers' Market is closed for the 2014 season, but I will continue to post articles of interest, information regarding the the Market, board members, and vendors in order to keep the Market front and center. What a day we had at the last Wednesday Market of the 2014 season! Extreme winds, bitter cold, cloudy, sunny and heavy rain for about 15 min...was certainly a bit of everything! Due to the wind we had to line the majority of the vendors up along the Museum wall in order to be able to set the tents up!

Thanks to those awesome customers who stopped by one last time, we THANK YOU!!!

Busker Jon Carter stopped by but he wasn't able to stay due to the weather, thank you Jon for taking the time to come by to see if it was possible for you to play!

We all know Saturday was very cold, sopping wet and strong gusty winds at times...but the North Bay Farmers' Market vendors were set up and open for business. These hard working vendors understand the commitment they make when they sign on as vendors...RAIN OR SHINE! It is for that reason they are especially thankful to all their loyal customers who donned their rain gear, grabbed the umbrella and ventured out to shop at the Market...regardless of the weather! You make the vendors day!!!

An update...due to the weather Dwight and Vicky have decided to reschedule their "baked potato" day to October 11th...
