I wanted to thank a few people for all their hard work regarding the Silent Auction this past Saturday...Thank you to Vicky Snell, Special Events Coordinator, your hard work and dedication to the Market is very much appreciated! To Cari Davis, Mud Dog Creek, your love for the Market shows in your dedication to helping when ever possible! Thanks to Debbie Pyatt, Simply Basic for collecting items for the auction and always helping where necessary...to all the volunteers who helped during the auction, these events couldn't take place without your help! THANK YOU!

Vicky informed me we raised $900.89, half of which will go to PADDLE...there were some items not bid on and since they were donated for the auction the items will be held over for a follow up auction in the fall...date to be determined, with half the funds going to PADDLE.

Well folks, it is going to be one of the says...where the Rain in Rain or Shine! rules!!! So, that means everyone will have their rain gear on and be setting up as usual...the only exception to that rule is of course thunder and lightening, but that is not in the forecast today.

Heard from Midlothian Valley Farms last evening and they will will have baby bok choy, asparagus, rhubarb, artichokes, fresh mint, lovage, shitake mushrooms, green onions. Slowly but surely product is arriving at the Market.

What a mixed bag of weather we had on Saturday...sunny, cloudy, cold, windy, and a bit of rain. Alternated between sunny and cloudy all day!

Regardless it was a great day...delicious pancakes were eaten, conversations were had, balloons were twisted and music was flowing!

During Opening Ceremonies, Ryan Spence Chair was presented with a defibrillator, for use at both the Saturday and Wednesday Markets by Jean-Guy Belzile, EMS Manager. We are pleased to have been chose to receive this generosity!

We presently have 4 vendors on Saturday who are trained on the use of the defibrillator...with one seasonal on Wednesday and one occasional vendor.

WOW...opening day was a HUGE success...It wasn't a day filled with sunshine, but it doesn't have to be, it didn't rain so in my books the weather was GREAT...it was an amazing Opening Day! We had great crowds from about 8:45 on...thank you to all who attended the Opening Ceremonies, and those who spent time at the Market yesterday! You made the day an awesome one for all our vendors!!!

We had local dignitaries on hand to say a few words at 9:00am...we thank Mayor Al MacDonald, MP Jay Aspen, MPP, Vic Fedeli, and Jeff Serran, DIA and city councilor for taking time out of their busy Saturday mornings to say a few during our Opening Ceremonies, hosted by our Market Chair, Ryan Spence, Field Good Farms / Ferme j'me champ bien...great job Ryan!

One more day...time has gone by so fast! The North Bay Farmers' Market begins its 13th season tomorrow.

Stop by and visit with old friends and make new ones while you are at it. Just had a call from Ron Warman of Alsace Gardens, he will have Rhubarb and limited asparagus for anyone interested! Others may have these items as well but I know for sure Ron will.  Just found out Schlosser Farm will also have asparagus tomorrow!

Buskers Bob Barraclough, Ken the Balloon Dude, facepainter Melissa Sohm, and caricature artist Dali Pecore will all be on hand for the day!

I have two more special items to mention for this Saturday...

There will be a Kid's Seed Planting area, where children are given a small container to plant seeds, which they will take home and watch it grow! Look for that at the Museum end of the Market.

Tanya Boochoon, Booth #3 will be holding a draw for items she made...entry into the the draw is by donation. The funds collected will go a charity of her choice.

One of our occasional vendors, Photographer, Kristin Armstrong, is having her Gallery Debut during the Downtown Gallery Hop on Friday, November 21 from 7pm – 9:30pm at 150 West on Oak. Her framed prints will be on display and for sale as well as some unframed prints and cards available for purchase. Kristin's work will stay in the gallery for the foreseeable future. 150 West is a local gallery on Oak Street West that promotes the work of Artists in Northern Ontario.

Whitewoods 4th Annual Christmas Craft and Bake Sale, Saturday December 6th, 9:00 - 4:00, at Whitewoods Public School, 177 Ethel St., Sturgeon Falls.

The North Bay Farmers’ Market is a vendor-run market in the city of North Bay, Ontario (about 3 1/2 hours north of Toronto).

The Market is made up of various local farmers, small business owners, crafters and artists. We strive to provide our community with a variety of quality, locally grown and handmade products.
